Tethering System for Microdialysis
Rats, Liquid Swivel System
Model TSU-20
The liquid swivel allows for eternal rotation with dual line connections. There are two channels, the center and side. The center channel has a smaller dead volume than the side channel, 1.5 µl and 4.5 µl, respectively. The distance between the swivel and the animal are automatically controlled with the balance arm. The animal needs to be connected with a reasonably stiff leash to turn the swivel. Therefore, the Teflon tubing of the microdialysis lines are covered with thick plastic which transfer the animal's rotation stress to the swivel. This leash tubing (WT-20T) needs to be connected to the collar (NF-10) of the animal or fixed to the skull. The ideal cage size is 35 cm tall 30 cm x 30 cm. This cage (FC-30) is separately sold.

Instead of the rat collar, we provide harnesses (DR-SS-M) to tether a mouse to the liquid swivel.

| 2 or 4 Channels, Simple Tethering System
Model SSU-20
Teflon tubing and spiral tubing are coupled to a rotating joint (SSB-20). This tubing system works for microdialysis sampling on both mouse and rat diurnal short experiments, up to several hours when animal activity is low. The animal does not need any further tethering except for this microdialysis tubing. A spiral tubing, model CT-20 including in/out let tubing inside, 0.1 mm ID x 50 cm length each, will absorb the animal's activity and adjust the vertical length of tubing. Due to the simplicity of the liquid lines, it is easy to thoroughly clean the inside of the system which is ideal for high sensitivity analysis. The rotating joint is available with 2 channels (standard) or 4 channels. The spiral tubing CT-20 is available in these configurations as well. The ideal size of cage is 35 cm tall 30 cm x 30 cm. This cage (FC-30) is separately sold.
The SSU-20 includes
2 ch Rotating Joint (SSB-20) 1 pc, Arm 1 set, Teflon Tubing 50 cm (JT-10) 4 pcs and 2 Ch Spiral Tubing (CT-20) 1 pc.
The SSU-40 is for 4 ch. 4 ch Rotating Joint (SSB-40) and 4ch Spiral Tubing (CT-40) included instead of the SSB-20 and CT-20.
